Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff
Railway. Join the millions who have ridden this unique
Victorian water powered lift since its opening in 1890. There
are also
spectacular
riverside walks through the Gorges and fabulous sea views.
Lynton is located on the top of the cliff and Lynmouth is
located at the sea level, just below Lynton, where the East and
West Lyn rivers merge. This superb location is known to the
locals as “Little Switzerland”! |
We will visit
Tarr Steps
which is a medieval clapper bridge over the River Barle. It
spans the fifty five foot river in seventeen spans of flat
stone. Enjoy the view from Dunkery Beacon which is the highest
point on Exmoor rising to 1,706 feet. You will have the
opportunity to see wild red deer and the unique Exmoor ponies
which were first recorded in the Doomsday Book and now number
less than 800 in the world. |
Exmoor Zoo is different from
other zoos. It is not a wildlife park or a city zoo, but a more
personal, friendly and contact orientated zoo which has grown into a
North Devon Valley. The zoo has always specialised in smaller
animals in the past, providing “natural” living spaces for many
creatures no longer seen in the city zoos.

Enjoy scenic views
from Ilfracombe Harbour.
Ilfracombe's charming natural harbour and elegant Victorian
architecture make the town as popular today as it has been since the
1830's. Why not end a day close to the sea by sampling the fresh
local fish and chips and Devon’s famous ‘clotted cream’ ice-cream!
